About Us

Hazelwood is a community of people who acknowledge both our frailty and God's promise to bring renewal through the gospel.  Hazelwood PC is a place to search out and experience the power of the good news of God's love. and to hear his truth proclaimed.  HPC is  a founding congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America.  We believe the Bible is God's Word and the final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

Pastor - Rev. Patrick  J. Womack

Patrick Womack is a native of Haywood County where he grew up attending the Hazelwood Presbyterian church with his family.  His childhood pastor, Fred Murphy, led him to trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior.

After graduating from Tuscola High school in 1985, he attended Western Carolina University where he earned a B.A. in History in 1989.  in answer to God's call to preach the gospel, he enrolled that year as a student at Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) in Jackson Mississippi.  During his three years there, he preached weekly at the Cuba Presbyterian Church in Cuba, Alabama. it was during his senior year in seminary that he met his future wife, Kathy.

in 1992, Patrick graduated from RTS with a Masters degree and was called to the Westview Presbyterian Church in Mt. Holly , North Carolina.   While at Westview he was ordained to the Gospel Ministry and he and Kathy were married.

He was called by Carolina Presbyterian Church in Locust, North Carolina in 1996 and served as senior pastor there until called by the congregation of Hazelwood to come back home.  The Womacks  moved to Waynesville in June of 2010.

Patrick married Kathy Farley in 1993.  Kathy is a native of Danville, Virginia, and a graduate of George Washington High School and the University of Virginia. She and her family attended Mount Vernon United Methodist Church in Danville where she was baptized.  It was during a summer youth retreat that she came to faith in Christ.  While attending UVA, she joined Trinity Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Charlottesville.

After graduating from UVA, Kathy remained in Charlottesville working as a photographer and  serving as a volunteer in the youth ministry at Trinity PCA until she left to study at Reformed Theological seminary where she met Patrick.  She graduated from RTS in 1993 with a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Kathy and Patrick are blessed with two grown, married children and their spouses and two grandsons.
